Playful and luxurious retreat with sweeping views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains.

1. Project Overview
Title: The Luxurious Primary Suite: An Unparalleled Retreat
Client: Dynamic Female Executive who works from home and travels frequently.
Location: Seattle Queen Anne
Project Type: Primary Suite Interior Design & Space Optimization
Duration: six months
Style: Contemporary Luxury, Tranquil, Maximized Views
Budget Range: $$$ - High-End
2. The Challenge:
The primary suite, despite its prime location on the upper floor and having great architectural “bones” , was a uniform space that failed to capture its spectacular surroundings or provide the resort-like ambiance the client needed to unwind after frequent travel.

Key Issues Identified:
Overall, the "Bowling Alley" Effect: The room was long, narrow, and lacked a defined zone, creating a "tunnel" feeling.
Poor Orientation: The bed was pushed against the far back wall, completely ignoring the stunning views of the Puget Sound that West Queen Anne is famous for.
Lack of Distinction: The basic design style offered little sense of luxury or personalized sanctuary.
Privacy/Flow: As the client's ultimate retreat, the space needed careful planning to ensure maximum privacy and seamless function.
Client's Primary Goals:
Establish an unparalleled, luxurious retreat.
Maximize views from the bedroom and key bathroom areas.
Create an environment that fosters relaxation and resort-like ambiance.
Improve storage solution throughout
Our Custom Solution & Design Strategy
To solve the "tunnel" problem, we had to rethink the footprint entirely. We made a bold structural move that changed the flow of the room:
1. Moving the Bed: We pulled the sleeping area away from the dark back wall and moved it forward, positioning the bed to face the windows. This allows the homeowners to wake up to the water view every morning.
2. The Partition Wall: We constructed a floating partition wall behind the new bed location. This visual trick shortened the room to create intimacy while simultaneously creating a new room-within-a-room.
3. The Hidden Closet: Behind this new partition, we created a bespoke walk-in closet. This creates a dedicated dressing zone that is completely hidden from the sleeping area, keeping the bedroom clutter-free.
4. Key Design Features & Storage Innovations
With the new layout in place, we focused on high-end customization to elevate the design:
• Integrated Cove Lighting: We built vertical cove lighting directly into the new partition wall. This casts a soft, architectural glow onto the floral mural, supported by sculptural pendants on each bedside.
• Floating Nightstands: To keep the look airy, we designed custom floating walnut nightstands. They are perfectly scaled for the space and feature integrated charging stations to keep cords hidden.
• Concealed Storage: We utilized the dead space in the eaves by adding concealed doors for overflow storage. These blend seamlessly into the walls, providing a place for seasonal items without disrupting the visual calm of the room.

5. The Transformation: Before & After
The "After" Story: The primary suite is now an unparalleled retreat. It successfully captures the natural beauty outside, blending sophisticated design with the ultimate in comfort and privacy. By correcting the layout, we maximized the view and doubled the functionality of the square footage. The addition of the teal linen settee, textured rug, and statement lighting creates a space that feels curated, cozy, and intentionally designed for rest.
Client Testimonial:
“A year later, we are still happy and excited about every corner in this house... the flow and function work perfect with our lifestyle.”
